Over the past 15 years, we have built and commissioned seven power plants in Ghana, one power plant in Burkina Faso, a port terminal in Takoradi and a network of 420km of natural gas pipelines in Ghana.
Power plants
-
We continue to operate five power plants in Ghana. The Bogoso plant was transferred to Goldstar Resources in 2012, in line with a two-year Build, Operate and Transfer agreement, and the Unilever plant at Tema is currently idled and in storage after the contract expired in 2017. The plant located on the mining concession of Orezone Bombore SA in Burkina Faso was completed and transferred to the client in February 2023.
-
Over the last five years, we have transitioned all our power plants to run on natural gas, reducing emissions and improving efficiency.
Takoradi terminal
-
In partnership with the Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority, in 2012 we constructed a terminal to import LPG at Takoradi. The Takoradi terminal was used to offload fuel to facilitate the transportation of LPG by road to our power plants prior to the commissioning of the pipeline.
Natural gas pipeline
-
Over the past five years, we have constructed four natural gas pipelines totalling 420km which serve our power generation assets, gas conditioning assets and third-party assets.
