The Wassa plant supplies power to the Golden Star Resources Wassa mine, owned by Chifeng Mining, a Shanghai listed company, and located in Southwestern Ghana.
The Wassa plant is gas fired with a 33MW capacity generated from two 16.5MW Solar Titan 130 gas turbines together with accessories. and connected to natural gas via the dedicated 12” 20km branch pipeline extension from Damang. The power generated by the plant is transmitted at 34.5kV to the Wassa Mine. The plant was commissioned in November 2020 and started commercial operations in January 2021.
